Round 23 of the Greek Super League sees Panathinaikos go head-to-head with Aris as the race for the top four heats up.
Elsewhere, PAOK will hope to get back to winning ways against a struggling Asteras Tripolis side, while both Olympiacos and AEK are expected to cruise on their travels north to face Panserraikos and Volos respectively.
Levadiakos make the journey south to take on Kifisia in what could be a pivotal encounter in APOL’s quest for securing a historic league finish.
But the weekend kicks off in Crete, where OFI are gunning for three points against a resurgent AEL, and both Atromitos and Panetolikos will be hopeful of a positive result to put distance between them and the dreaded drop zone.
Saturday Matches
OFI Crete vs AE Larissa
This match-up is a real battle for the play-off spots. OFI currently lie in eighth, hanging onto the middle group – which leads to a possible European spot – with 25 points, while AEL sit in 12th place on 21 points in the relegation group.
The form card sees AEL coming off two draws against Panathinaikos and PAOK having played well in both, unlucky not to beat PAOK.
OFI, on the other hand, are fresh from a home loss to Panathinaikos and away draw to Kifisia after giving up a 2-0 lead.
Both teams have shown glimpses of form. OFI I would say are hotter when hot, but they have a tendency to really slack off, whilst AEL are more consistent and have shown promise under coach Savvas Pantelidis.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
- Saturday, 17:00 local time
- Prediction – OFI 2-2 AEL
Atromitos vs Panetolikos
Both teams lead the relegation zone, Atromitos in ninth place with 24 points and Panetolikos in 10th with 21 points.
Atromitos have been hot and cold all season and come off an away win in Tripoli after a disappointing home draw to Panserraikos two weeks ago.
Despite a 2-0 loss to Olympiacos last week, Panetolikos have lifted themselves with impressive wins in prior weeks over Asteras and AEL respectively.
The eye will be on the visitors to see if they can keep up their impressive form or if Atromitos will stomp them back down to earth.
It’s an equally important match for the home team, who could find themselves in the European play-off group with a win at home.
- Saturday – 19:30 local time
- Prediction – Atromitos 2-1 Panetolikos
Kifisia vs Levadiakos
The last of the Saturday matches sees Levadiakos, the surprise unit of the season, travel to Kifisia in a match Livadia simply must win if they want to maintain fourth place and remain in the big boys play-off group.
It’s been a tough February for Levadiakos with a heavy loss to AEK last week taking the cake after a controversial 0-0 draw with Olympiacos and a disappointing defeat to OFI in Crete.
With Panathinaikos breathing down their back, they simply must beat Kifisia, who are having a tough 2026 after offloading their best two players to the Trifili. In saying that, Kifisia has shown more promise in the last fortnight and won’t be an easy opponent for the desperate Levadiakos.
- Saturday, 20:00 local time
- Prediction – Kifisia 1-2 Levadiakos
Sunday Matches
Panserraikos vs Olympiacos
With the European exit midweek, one feels this is now Olympiacos’ time to turn it on against the bottom-placed team from Serres
In saying that, Panserraikos have shown some new grit the last couple of weeks and got their second win in six weeks last time out against Volos.
Olympiacos, on their end, will be looking for back-to-back wins after a tough mid-month prior to their win over Panetolikos last week.
It’s been 17 years since Panserraikos celebrated a win over the reigning champions. Could they perhaps do the unthinkable on Sunday and derail Olympiacos even more? It’s highly unlikely but never say never in football.
- Sunday, 16:00 local time
- Prediction – Panserraikos 0-2 Olympiacos
Volos FC vs AEK Athens
One of the most out-of-form teams plays one of the most in-form teams, in what will be a full house at the Panthessaliko Stadium with AEK granted as many tickets as possible which could see a crowd of +20k.
Whilst I say Volos are horribly out of form, they have shown some better football in the last couple of weeks
AEK have really picked up their standards in February and, in what will be a stadium covered in yellow and black, they will want to stamp their authority on what was once a bogey team and keep their place at the top of the league.
- Sunday, 17:30 local time
- Prediction – Volos 0-3 AEK
PAOK vs Asteras Tripolis
A tired PAOK return from Spain after their elimination from Europe. Luckily for them, though, they play one of the most out-of-form teams in the Super League, Asteras Tripolis.
It’s no secret that PAOK without Konstatelias are not the same and they will be looking to get back in the winner’s circle for the first time since round 19 remarkably, a run which has seen them go from first to third as a result.
Asteras have not shown much but for a 2-0 win over Volos in round 20.
- Sunday, 19:00 local time
- Prediction – PAOK 2-0 Asteras
Panathinaikos vs Aris
The match of the round by some way, Panathinaikos take on an Aris team who are definitely soul-searching after coach Manolo Jimenez left the team following a string of poor results and showings.
Panathathikos, on the other hand, are marching into this game on a high after securing a last 16 spot in the UEFA Europa League and a good win in Crete over OFI last week.
So what could happen…? Whilst Panathinaikos are the favorites and need the win to keep momentum in the run for fourth place, PAO have been unpredictable domestically and welcome Aris after a draining mid-week game in Czechia which went into penalties.
Aris come in with a new coach in Michalis Grigoriou, and will be fresher of the two teams. The only thing is… their form has been ordinary.
In their last seven Greek Super League matches, Aris have three wins, to PAO’s two victories and two draws… PAO’s last win over Aris in the league was in April 2024.
- Sunday, 20:00 local time
- Prediction – Panathinaikos 1-0 Aris
